Register-News, Mt Vernon IL, Thurs 10 July 1997 RUBY WEBB Ruby F. WEBB, 87, of rural McLeansboro and late of Carmi died 8:45 a.m. July 9, 1997, at White County Skilled Care Unit, Carmi. She worked as a cashier at the former Illinois Brokerage Store in McLeansboro and later, along with her husband, owned and operated Wonder Mart in Norris City until retirement. Mrs. WEBB was born, June 22, 1910, in Hamilton County, a daughter of James and Clara (HUGHES) MARLOW(sic). She married Eugene L. WEBB, who died in 1973. Services will be 10 a.m. Saturday at the Gholson Funeral Home in McLeansboro with Pastor Linda GLENN officiating. Burial will be in I.O.O.F. Cemetery, McLeansboro. Friends may call from 5 to 8 p.m. Friday at the Gholson Funeral Home in McLeansboro. Mrs. WEBB is survived by a son, Wendell and wife Lynn WEBB of Springfield; a daughter, Helen and husband Darwin RAY of Norris City; four grandchildren, Brock and Dustin WEBB of Springfield, Mike RAY of Norris City and Pat MESSINGER of Bloomington; five great-grandchildren, Amy, Blain and Brian RAY of Norris City, Tricia MESSINGER of Bloomington and Rachel MESSINGER serving with the Peace Corps in the country of Moldonia. She was a member of the Cumberland Presbyterian Church. She was a 50-year member of the Order of Eastern Star, a charter member of McLeansboro White Shrine of Jerusalem, and member of Amaranth of Carmi. Mrs. WEBB was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; one infant son, James Russell WEBB; one brother, George HARLOW; and two sisters, Mabel BRUCE and Anna WEBB.
