She was born Dec. 25, 1905, in Sayreton, Ala., to Daniel and Ida Vaughn Hammett. She was married to E. Pete McPhail in Murphysboro, Nov 16, 1924. Survivors are her husband; a daughter, Jean Towers of Christopher; two sons, Thomas and William, both of Royalton; a brother, Dennis Hammett of Long Beach, Calif.; eight grandchildren and four great-grandchrildren. Two daughters, Sue Carol McPhail and Ida Ruth Jerrells, preceded her in death. Funeral services will be at 3 p.m. Sunday in the Moeller Vantrease Funeral Home in Royalton. Burial will be in Miners Cemetery in Royalton. Friends may call after 5 p.m. Saturday at the funeral home. Note: the date of the marriage looks like it could be 1934 in the newspaper image. I think it must be 1924 since first child was born in 1925.
