    3. Register-News, Mt Vernon IL, Tues 8 Feb & Wed 9 Feb 1999 SILAS HAMSON Silas J. HAMSON, 89, of Dahlgren died 5:15 a.m. Feb. 8, 1999, at Hamilton Memorial Hospital, McLeansboro. He was a retired farmer. Mr. HAMSON was born Sept. 14, 1909, in Hamilton County, a son of John and Corda (PORTER) HAMSON. Dec. 24, 1931, he married Fern (WARD). Services will be 10 a.m. Wednesday at the Harre Funeral Home in Dahlgren with the Rev. Richard McCORMICK and the Rev. Steve HAMSON officiating. Burial will be in Oddfellows Cemetery in Dahlgren. Friends may call from 6 to 8 p.m. today at the Harre Funeral Home in Dahlgren. Mr. HAMSON is survived by his wife of 67 years, Fern HAMSON; two sons, Silas E. HAMSON and wife Mary of Belle Rive and Alan R. HAMSON and wife Susan of Dahlgren; one daughter, Violet MAHALEK and husband John of Dahlgren; 10 grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; two great-grandchildren(sic); one sister, Dorothy RICHARDS of Decatur; several nieces, nephews and stepgrandchildren. He was a member of Dahlgren Baptist Church. He was a member of Dahlgren Township School Board for many years. Mr. HAMSON was preceded in death by his parents; one son, John Alfred HAMSON; three sisters; one brother; and one grandson.
