MURPHYSBORO - Carolyn Ruiz, formerly of Murphysboro, died at 5:55 am, Thursday, April 11, 2013. She was born to Fred and Ruth (Higley) Goudy in Butler, Ind. She married Jose Ruiz on April 19, 1956. Carolyn was a member of Saint Andrew Catholic Church. She is survived by her husband, Jose Ruiz; three sons, Brian (Margaret) Ruiz of East Carondelet, Philip (Valentina) Ruiz of Weston, Wis., and Michael (Alicia) Ruiz of Herrin; a daughter, Sylvia (John) Vercillo of Christopher; seven grandchildren; and other relatives and many friends. She was preceded in death by her parents; and two sons, Craig Ruiz and Paul Ruiz. Services for Carolyn Ruiz will be at 11 a.m. Thursday, April 25, in Saint Andrew Cemetery, with Father Gary Gummersheimer officiating.
