WEST FRANKFORT - Nello Baldi, 91, died at 10:42 a.m. Saturday, April 20, 2013, in Herrin Hospital. Services will be at 11 a.m. today in Union Funeral Home in West Frankfort with Pastor David Kern officiating. Burial will be in Denning Cemetery on Orient Road. Visitation will be from 9 to 11 a.m. today at the funeral home. Memorials may be made to St. Paul's Lutheran Church in West Frankfort. Envelopes will be available and accepted at the funeral home. Mr. Baldi worked for Baldi Construction for many years and also worked for his younger son for the last 15 years. He was a U.S. Army veteran who served in World War II. He was born Sept. 9, 1921, in West Frankfort to Veto and Erma (Sailliez) Baldi. He married Dorothy Skuta June 29, 1947, and she preceded him in death Nov. 24, 2009. Survivors include two sons and daughters-in-law, Dennis and Dena Baldi of Herrin and Joe and Paula Baldi of West Frankfort; three grandsons and their wives, Shawn and Carol Baldi, Jim and Brandi Baldi and Joseph and Lindsey Baldi; stepgrandchild, Danielle Milstead; and eight great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his wife, Dorothy Baldi: parents; sisters, Julia Rogers, Vera Finney and Irene Moore; and brother, Veto Baldi Jr. Online condolences of sympathy may be made at www.unionfh.com.
