    3. Eldora, The name Hayes rang a bell for me.......there was a legal suit between Hayes and Borders in Sparta, IL. Hayes' home was a stop on the Underground Railroad. Hayes helped two slaves and their children escape to northern Illinois and Andrew Borders sued him for return of his property. Also......I personally think that Andrew Borders was the owner of Priscilla, who was purchased by Barzilla Silkwood. In the 1860 census for Franklin County, IL, Priscilla is listed as Priscilla Borders. Census records 1850-1860-1870-1880 have the birth place for Priscilla as Illinois. I checked for slave owners, surname Borders, in the 1830-1840 time frame, and Andrew Borders is the only man I could find. He was a slave owner.
