Green, 75 of Springfield, died at 3:28 p.m. Wednesday, April 3, 2013, at Memorial Medical Center. James was born August 18, 1937, in Marion, the son of James E. and Helen L. Allen Green. He married Mary C. Turner on June 19, 1959, in Vienna. James was a 1956 graduate of Marion High School and proudly served his country in the United States Army. He worked for Hub Clothiers in Springfield for seventeen years and retired from the State of Illinois in 2002 after thirty years of service. He was a member of the Ansar Shrine, he was a 32nd Degree Mason, a member of Tyrian Lodge No. 333 A.F. & A.M., and Order of the Eastern Star, Chapter 218 Lalla Rookh. James enjoyed working in his yard, flower gardening, being with his family and going to Disney World with his grandchildren, playing the piano and organ, watching westerns and he sang in musicals and the choir. He was preceded in death by his parents and one sister, Nancy Hastings. He is survived by his wife, Mary C. Green of Springfield; one daughter, Tamme (husband Jay) King of Mt. Zion; two grandchildren, Jayson King of Mt. Zion and Jayme King of St. Louis; one sister, Janet (husband Bob) Carter of Marion; several nieces, nephews and cousins; and his beloved dog, Cupie. Family will receive friends from 4-7 p.m. Sunday, April 7, 2013, at Kirlin-Egan and Butler Funeral Home, 900 S. 6th St., Springfield. Masonic rites will be conducted by Tyrian Masonic Lodge No. 333 A.F. & A.M. at 7 p.m. The funeral will be at 9:30 a.m. Monday, April 8, 2013, at Kirlin-Egan & Butler Funeral Home with Pastor Tracy Smith officiating. Burial will follow at Camp Butler National Cemetery where military honors will be provided. Memorial contributions may be made to Shriners Hospital for Children, 2001 S.
