Georgia Leigh Gutierrez, 68, of Dowell, IL, passed away at 6:55 P.M., Saturday, April 20, 2013 at her residence in Dowell, IL. Georgia was a loving wife, mother, aunt and friend to many. She was a homemaker and of the Baptist Faith. Georgia’s love, care and devotion to her family was present in everything. Georgia Leigh was born October 19, 1944 at West Frankfort, IL, the daughter of Harold Miller Cantrell and Beatrice Evelyn (Daffron) Cantrell. Georgia married Hector Gutierrez on March 1, 1967 at Laredo, TX and he survives. She is survived by her husband of Dowell, two daughters- Lynn Leigh Gutierrez of Terre Haute, IN and Jennifer Ann Gutierrez of Dowell. She was preceded in death by her parents, sister- Carol Jean Cantrell Sones and grandparents – Oscar Lee Daffron and Sally Haney Daffron. Funeral services will be at 10:00 A.M., Wednesday, April 24, 2013 at the Searby Funeral Home in Du Quoin with Rev. Joe Wagner officiating. Friends may call from 5 to 7 P.M., Tuesday at the Searby Funeral Home in Du Quoin. Burial will be in the Elkville Cemetery at Elkville, IL.
