WAYNE E. PETTIT, 77, of Mount Vernon, Illinois, passed away at 7:10 P.M. on Friday, April 12, 2013 at Good Samaritan Regional Health Center in Mount Vernon, Illinois. He was born in Mount Vernon on Friday, September 13, 1935, a son to the late George & Gladys Alice (Gordon) Pettit. He married Shirley King on Arpil 10, 1955 at First Free Will Baptist Church in Mount Vernon, Illinois and she survives in Mount Vernon along with two Daughters: Carylle Sue Rankin and husband Gerald of Mount Vernon, Illinois and Christy Stoltman and husband Bob of Houston Texas; four Grandchildren: Anna Stoltman, R.J. Stoltman and Kirstin Stoltman of Houston Texas and Jennifer Rankin of Mount Vernon, Illinois; Great Grandchild: Jadon Rankin of Mount Vernon, Illinois; Nephews: Billy Tom King, Rodney King and George Robert Lancaster, Nieces: Miriam Brooks, Ronda McDowell, Melody Wilson and Kathy Smith; Brother-in-law: Bill King and wife Nadine of Mount Vernon, Illinois. Along with his parents, one sister: Mary Alice Elliott and one nephew: Paul David Smith preceded him in death Wayne owned and operated Pettit Magnavox, television sales & repair in Mount Vernon. He was a member and deacon of First Free Will Baptist Church in Mount Vernon, was a Sunday School teacher since 1960 and coached church league basketball. He was a member of the YMCA, Toastmasters Club of Mount Vernon, was currently a foster grandparent at J.L. Bluford School for five years, was an avid racquetball player, fan of Mount Vernon Rams basketball and was a Ham radio operator. VISITATION will be from 5 to 8:00 P.M. Monday, April 15, 2013 at First Free Will Baptist Church in Mount Vernon, Illinois. FUNERAL SERVICE will be held at 10:30 A.M. Tuesday, April 16, 2013 at First Free Will Baptist Church in Mount Vernon, Illinois, with Reverend David Shores, Reverend Jesse Allen and Reverend Phillip Kennedy officiating. INTERMENT will be at Mount Vernon Memorial Gardens in Woodlawn, Illinois MEMORIALS may be given to First Free Will Baptist Church in Mount Vernon, Illinois and will be accepted at the funeral home or mailed to Hughey Funeral Home, P.O.
