Bobbie Sue Ingram-Samples, 70, died at home in Benton at 3:30 p.m. Sunday, April 28, 2013. She was born Aug. 28, 1942. Bobbie has been a resident of Benton for the past 37 years. She is survived by her husband, Charles Samples; mother in-law, Lorraine Samples; one daughter, Tamara Roberts; three sisters, Judy Hanners (West Frankfort), June Taylor (Tennessee) and Ann Green (Alabama); three step-children Donald Samples, Lisa Hall and Michelle DeCorsey; two grandchildren, Tiffany Hodge and Rex Roberts; four step-grandchildren, Austin, Macey, Cole Samples and Dawson Hall; and five great-grandchildren. Bobbie was preceded in death by her parents, Reed and Irma Phillips, Raymond Phillips (brother), Earl Phillips (brother), Elaine Brown (sister), and husband Marvin Ingram. Bobbie was passionate about her family and friends. She was also known as “Nanny.” Bobbie enjoyed gardening and feeding the birds and squirrels. She was well known for the decorations she and Charles would display for the holidays, Christmas and Halloween. Bobbie recently gave her life to her Lord Jesus Christ and was baptized at Whittington Church with Rev. Mark Minor. She had been battling cancer for nearly a year and in the last six months her quality of life had drastically changed. Services will be from 5 to 7 p.m. Friday, May 3, at Whittington Church in Whittington. Bobbie’s wishes were to be cremated; therefore, there will be no burial service. Van Natta Funeral Home in Herrin services will be used for the cremation process
