HERRIN - Shirley Jean Thompson Tulo, 70, died Friday, April 19, 2013, in Shawnee Christian Nursing Center in Herrin. She was born March 12, 1943, to Thomas and Callie Bunnell. Services will be at 8 p.m. today in Van Natta Funeral Home on Illinois 148, between Sesser and Christopher, with Brother Colton Woodside officiating. Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. today at the funeral home. Survivors include four daughters, Vickie Wilson of Marion, Carlina and husband, Stephen Hermann, of Festus, Mo., Laurie and husband, Dwayne Whittington, of Valier and Karen (Frank Byrne) Duiguid of Jacksonville, Fla.; son, Steve Thompson of Valier; 10 grandchildren, Kristy (Jon Thetford) McIntosh of Herrin, James P. Wilson of Royalton, Renee and husband, Ben Joiner, of St. Louis, Stephanie and husband, Peter Moe, of Houston, Bryan Hermann of Festus, Mo., Sarah and husband, Ethan Lindsay, of Mundelein, Hayley Nicole Whittington of Valier, Rebekah and husband, Gregory Williams, of Jacksonville Fla., Tara (Mike Permiter) Duiguid of Jacksonville Fla., and Braden Thompson-Lowes of Valier; and 12 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Hubert Thompson; sister, Francis Bunnell; brother, Victor Bunnell; granddaughter, Nichole McIntosh; and sister-in-law, Karen Bunnell.
