Thomas Richard Sharp,85, of Benton, formerly of West Frankfort, passed away at 11:35 p.m. Monday, March 18, 2013 at the Franklin Hospital in Benton. He was born November 6, 1927 in West Frankfort to Thomas Sharp and Gladys ( McDaniel) Sharp. He first married Darlene Sharp and she preceded him in death. He then married Carolyn Wilburn and she survives. Survivors include his wife, Carolyn Sharp of Benton; a son, Thomas “Rick” (Diana) Sharp of Batavia, Il., grandchildren, Jessica (Alfonso) Jaquez of Montgomery, Il. and William Thomas Sharp and fiancé’ Crystal Vest of Pleasant Prairie, Wi. and a great grandchild, Navi Jaquez; also surviving are two step children, Kendra Murphy and Don A. (Shelley) Wilburn both of West Frankfort; step grandchildren, Rachel (Jake) Ivey, Katie and Brett Winninger, Logan (Rhianon) Wilburn, Caleb ( Brittney) Murphy and Elijah Murphy and step great grandchildren, Radley Winninger and Abraham Ivey. Also a good friend, Bill Wazorik of West Frankfort. He was preceded in death by his parents, first wife, Darlene Sharp and by a brother, Dewey Sharp. Tom was a member of the Second Baptist Church in West Frankfort and the American Legion. He served his country for 21 years in the United States Air Force. He also had worked for Bonifield Trucking Co. Funeral services will be at 1:00 p.m. Saturday, March 23, 2013at the Parker-Reedy Funeral Home in West Frankfort with Dr. Brett Beasley and Eddie Paul Davis officiating. Burial will be in the Tower Heights Cemetery in West Frankfort. Visitation will be from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Friday at the funeral home. Military rites will be conducted by the American Legion’s of Orient and Zeigler, the VFW of West Frankfort and the Military Honors Team of Marion.
