GALATIA — James Earl Adkisson, 90, of Cornerville in Hamilton County, passed away at 6:25 p.m. Thursday, March 7, 2013, at Hamilton Memorial Hospital in McLeansboro, surrounded with his family at his side. He was born July 21, 1922, in Hamilton County to the late James and Helen (Tate) Adkisson. James Earl and Virginia (Flannigan) Adkisson were married on Oct. 9, 1942, in McLeansboro; she preceded him in death in September 2008. He was a farmer and a supervisor of assessments in Hamilton County for 16 years and a member of Liberty Church of Christ. Mr. Adkisson is survived by two sons, Barry K. (Georgia) Adkisson and Bruce M. (Mary) Adkisson; three grandsons, Justin James, Caleb Jeremiah (Holly) and Lucas Nathaniel; and a great-granddaughter, Caroline Adkisson. In addition to his wife, James Earl was preceded in death by his parents and two sisters, Ruth Patterson and Ruby Vinyard. Funeral services were Monday afternoon at Sloan Funeral Home in Galatia. The Rev. Steve Reeves officiated, with burial in Liberty Cemetery. Memorials may be made to Liberty Cemetery.
