    3. Julius Gianakos, 79, of Hanna City, Ill., passed away Monday, March 4, 2013, at 10:30 a.m. at his residence. The son of Eleftherios S. and Angeliki (Topeka) Gianakopolos, he was born Dec. 2, 1933, in Zeigler. He is survived by three children, Michael Jules (Debbie) Gianakos of Acworth, Ga., Brenda (Mike) VanAtta of Hanna City, and Chris (Mary) Gianakos of Sugar Land, Texas; five grandchildren, Joseph (Elsa) Gianakos of Houston, Texas, David Jules Gianakos of Brooklyn, N.Y., and Matthew, Andrew and Michelle Gianakos, all of Marietta, Ga.; and a special friend, Nancy Miller of Dieterich. His parents and brother, John, preceded him in death. Julius had worked for Channel 19 in Peoria as a cameraman as well as for KOVR in Stockton, Calif. He had several other entrepreneurial endeavors, including Polos Apartments in Peoria. Julius last worked for General Electric Medical Systems in Peoria for 24 years. He retired in 1991. He was a member of Peoria Elks Lodge and Bartonville American Legion Post 979. He was a U.S. Army veteran, serving in Korea. Cremation rites have been accorded. There was a Celebration of Life on Friday, March 8, and closing with a Eulogy at Endsley-Sedgwick Funeral Home, Bartonville. Interment was on Saturday, March 9, in Zeigler Cemetery.
