September 29, 2011 Mrs. Thelma Blacketer The Commercial-News Thu Sep 29, 2011, 01:00 AM CDT ROBINSON - Mrs. Thelma Blacketer, 98, of Robinson, formerly of Danville, passed to eternal refreshment in the paradise of God on Monday, Sept. 26, 2011, at the Crawford County Convalescent Center, Robinson. She was born Aug. 12, 1913, in West Frankfort to Lyle Commodore and Anna Nora (Hungate) Reed. She attended school in Benton. In 1933, she married the Rev. Venice E. Blacketer who preceded her in death in January 1967. Thelma was also preceded in death by her parents; a brother, Claude Reed; and a sister, Madge Frailey. Surviving Mrs. Blacketer are a son, Robert L. Blacketer of Danville; three grandchildren and spouses, Tammy and Terry Thompson of Oblong, Wendy and Jim Taylor of Livermore, Calif., and Robert M. and Tina Blacketer of Ladera Ranch, Calif. Also surviving are five great-grandchildren, Christine and Christopher Thompson, Samantha Jerrell, Alex Taylor and Robert V. Blacketer. Mrs. Blacketer, along with her husband, served in many churches in Medcalf, Benton, Kewanee, Danville, Lombard and Wilmington. She was especially interested and active in foreign missions and was a youth group leader and a missionary society leader for the Nazarene Church. Following the death of her husband and in her later years, she was a member of the Crawford County Senior Citizen's Choir and played piano and sang in the church choir. Finally, after years of suffering failing health, she has joined her husband in her eternal home in that land beyond the skies not made with human hands. Although she will be sadly missed by her immediate family, her church family and her many friends, we know that she is enjoying eternal refreshment in that realm beyond the sky. May we who survive her be more strongly bound in the ties of union and friendship. As per her wishes, Mrs. Blacketer's body has been cremated. A memorial service will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 8, at the First Church of the Nazarene, 2212 N. Vermilion St., Danville, with Pastor Dave Anderson officiating. Interment of the cremated remains will be in Vermilion Grove Cemetery, Vermilion Grove, following the services at the church. Memorial contributions in Mrs. Blacketer's memory may be made to the Missionary Society of the First Church of the Nazarene, 2212 N. Vermilion St., Danville, IL, 61832. Local arrangements were entrusted to Pulliam Funeral Home, Robinson. ------------------------------- To unsubscribe from the list, please send an email to ILFRANKL-request@rootsweb.com with the word 'unsubscribe' without the quotes in the subject and the body of the message ------------------------------- To unsubscribe from the list, please send an email to ILFRANKL-request@rootsweb.com with the word 'unsubscribe' without the quotes in the subject and the body of the message
