The Rev. Evan Lloyd Sheriff, 74, of West Frankfort, formerly of Sesser, died Saturday, March 6, 1982 in Union Hospital in West Frankfort. He was a member of the Immanuel Baptist Church in Benton. He was born Feb. 5, 1908, in Illinois, to Robert J. and Laura Cockrum Sheriff. Survivors include several cousins. Funeral Service will be at 10 a.m Tuesday at Morton and Johnston Funeral Home in Benton. Burial will be in Paradise Prairie Cemetery west of Sesser. Friends may call after 5 p.m. today at the Funeral Home. No date or name of paper. I remember his father talking to my father about being sorry that Evan had girl friend and that he broke them up. Evan walked with limp. He realized that he was getting on in years and that Evan would be alone.
