NORMAL — Katherine Elizabeth Mott, 73, Normal, passed away at 3:43 p.m. Wednesday (March 27, 2013) at Kindred Hospital, Peoria. Her funeral will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday at College Park Christian Church, 116 N. Cottage Ave., Normal. The Rev. Jim Simkins will officiate. Burial will be in Wiley Cemetery, Colfax. Visitation will be from 9 to 11 a.m. Tuesday at the church. The family suggests memorials be made to a charity of the donor’s choice. Arrangements are being handled by Calvert & Metzler Memorial Home, Bloomington. Katherine was born Sept. 18, 1939, in Normal, the daughter of William Everett and Myrtle Jane Nichelson Downey. She married Jackie “Jack” Mott on Sept. 22, 1962, in Colfax. He survives. Also surviving are two children, David Mott, Normal, and Paula Rizner, Bloomington; two grandchildren, Heidi and Shawn Mott, Bloomington; and one brother, Bennie (Teresa) Downey, Gibson City. She was preceded in death by her parents and one brother, James “Jug” Downey. Katherine graduated from Octavia High School, Colfax, in 1958. She graduated from beauty school in Bloomington in 1961. Katherine was a member of College Park Christian Church, Normal. She retired from General Electric in 1992, after more than 28 years of service. She was a member of Local 1000. She was a loving wife, mother and grandmother. She was known for her talent in cooking and sewing. She will be remembered for her great faith and unconditional love.
