Holman, 64, Ewing, died at 11:45 a.m. Tuesday, Oct. 28, 2003, at his home. He went to Heaven to be with his family. He was born in Spring Garden Township on June 3, 1939, the son of James Edgar and Rosie Fern Fields Holman. He married Mary McCommons on Dec. 22, 1962, in Benton, and she survives. Mr. Holman was an Army veteran. He was a member of Williams Chapel Church in Ewing. He was also an avid race car fan. Mr. Holman is survived by his wife, Mary, Ewing; son, David Holman and wife, Rhonda, Ewing; daughter, Sally Lane and husband Wayne, Ewing; son Mike Holman and wife, Jackie, Benton; four grandchildren, Curtis James, Desiree Lynn, Olivia Morgan and Lucas Michael; four sisters, Doris Douglas, Ewing, Mary Ruth Cook and husband, Gary, Ewing, Joyce Gilbert and husband, Billy, Effingham, and Sharon Rose Burton, Johnston City; a special brother-in-law, Carl Williams, Ewing; several nieces and nephews, and and mother-in-law, Lodema McCommons, Benton. Mr. Holman was preceded in death by his parents, one brother, Russell, and one sister, Louise. Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Friday, Oct. 31, at the Johnston Funeral Home in Whittington with Brother Steve McCommons officiating. Burial with Military Rites conducted by the Benton American Legion and VFW Posts will be in the Williams Chapel Cemetery in Ewing. Friends may call from 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday to the Johnston Funeral Home in Whittington, IL. --------------
