Thank you, Sam Charles Mills COCKRUM's 1st. wife was Naomi BROWN. The 1850 U.S. census lists her as "Maroma". That is a mistake. The census enumerator simply did not unerstand the pronunciation. Pat Are you sure about the birth date of Elizabeth Jane Cockrum?? That would have been before her parents' marriage (not impossible) but in the 1850 census dated 18 Oct 1850 she is listed as age 8 and in the 1860 census dated 16 Jul 1860 as age 17.
