FORMER BENTON HIGH SCHOOL TEACHER AND GENEALOGY RESEARCHER MT. VERNON — — Jack L. Story, 80, born July 27, 1932, in Mt. Vernon, passed away peacefully on Feb. 27, 2013, at his home in Belleville. He graduated from Mt. Vernon High School and SIU Carbondale with a bachelor's and master's degree in education. He served in the U.S. Army in Germany. Most of his teaching career was with the Junior High in Cahokia. Jack was a member and deacon at First Christian Church in Belleville. He enjoyed photography, travel, collecting stamps, participating in trivia nights and being with family and friends. HE will be remembered for his quick wit and easy smile. Jack was preceded in death by his parents, Roy and Corinne (Scott) Story; and a sister in infancy. Surviving are his wife, Martha Story (Tripp); children Kevin (Joan) Story of Troy, Mo., and their children Justin Story, Austin Story, Nathan STory, Jason Bals and Craig (Tiffany) Bals; Geoff Story of St. Louis and Andrea (Todd) Hilding of St. Petersburg, Fla., and their son, Steven Hilding; a sister, Carolyn (Richard) Burgin of Mt. Vernon; and five nieces and nephews. Memorials in Jack's memory may be made to the First Christian Church in Belleville, Patient Care Programs & Service, or Hospice of Southern Illinois, Inc., 305 S. I have his parents as Roy Fredrick Story (1906-1988) and Eunice Corrine Scott (1908-1996). Eunice's parents are Daniel Cornelius Scott (1871-1956) and Nancy Jane Williams (1872-1949) -- Nancy is the youngest sister of my gg grandfather. Anyone know who Roy Fredrick Story's parents are?
