ROYALTON - Virie Davis, 73, passed away at 6:10 p.m. Monday, March 11, 2013, in St. Louis University Hospital with her loving family at her side. Virie was born Aug. 27, 1939, in Henderson, Ky., to Henry and Freelove (King) Stacey. She married Ronald Lester Davis Sr. on April 23, 1957, in Covington, Ky., and he preceded her in death May 21, 2004. Survivors include a daughter and son-in-law, Babetta and Ralph Halleran of Mulkeytown; a son and daughter-in-law, Ronald L. and Ramona Davis Jr. of Christopher; six grandchildren, Christina (Joe) Howerton of Carterville, Jennifer Halleran of Hurst, Cassey Halleran of Royalton, David L. Davis of Christopher, Daniel L. Davis of Royalton and Rachel (Richard) Schlake of Christopher; seven great-grandchildren, Gauge, Gunner, John, Briley, Brison, Amanda and Luke; a brother, Cody Stacey of Zeigler; and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents. Virie was a member of Family Church of God in Zeigler. Along with her husband, she was the former owner/operator of Chaney's Market in Marion. Services will be at 11 a.m. Friday, March 15, in Family Church of God in Zeigler with Brother Denny Bush officiating. Burial will be in St. Aloysius Cemetery, west of Zeigler. Visitation will be after 9 a.m. Friday at the church. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in memory of Mrs. Davis are suggested to Family Church of God, P.O. Box 363, Zeigler, IL 62999.
