Silas Moore must be from my ancestor's' brother, since I am from the Moore line of Thomas Moore, Silas Moore must be of Thomas's brothers' line. Anyone know for sure? per Grandma Deem's Obituaries 1897-1917 pg 97 OBITUAR(Y) MAR/ 5, 1908 Wm. C. MOORE was born January 24, 1831, and departed this life February 29, 1908, age 17 years, 1 month and five days. Deceased was married to Miss Esther INGRAM January 1st, 1845; to this union were born 12 children. Six of them have gone home to Glory where their father was called to go. He had given his heart to God in his old age and said he was ready to go home when God called him. He enjoyed religion the last days of his life at home with his family. He leaves a wife and six children and a host of friends to mourn his departure/ we feel our loss is his eternal gain. He heard the call for volunteers in 1861. He obeyed the call and joined the 40th Illinois, Co. A, serving as orderly sergeant, and was promoted to first lieutenant. He always looked up. He served four years, received an honorable discharge and returned home to his family. On the 29th day of February, 1908, he was discharged from the cares of this life and was laid to rest in Old Tenmile(sic) cemetery on March 1st, 1908, to await the resurrection of the just. Blessed are the dead that die in the Lord. Funeral services were conducted by Revs. K. W. INGRAM and T.B. HUNT. *** Wm. C. MOORE, a veteran of the civil war, serving in Co. A, 40th Ill.
