HELP!! For several years I have had Gilbert M. Lafayette Brown son of Dewitt Clinton Brown and Mary Robinson as being born April 11, 1838 and died March 22, 1882. He married Rebecca Jones July 28, 1856, FCI. I have had a second marriage for him to Mary Emily Sample but this Lafayette could not have been married to Emily. Per the Illinois Statewide Marriage Index. The marriage between Lafayette Brown and Emily Brown was August 17, 1882, about five months after Gilbert M. Lafayette Brown died. I don't have any other Lafayette Browns in the 1882 time frame, so does anyone know who the Lafayette Brown that married Emily Samples is? Emily also married and divorced Thomas Blair.
