HERRIN -- Virginia M. Legan, 85, passed away at 3:40 a.m. Sunday, March 10, 2013, in Shawnee Christian Nursing Center in Herrin. Virginia was born Jan. 19, 1927, in Herrin, the daughter of Samuel and Lillian (Schaubert) Hunsaker. She married Ray Legan on June 19, 1943. He preceded her in death. Mrs. Legan worked at Smoler Brothers in Herrin before retiring. Survivors include two grandchildren, Bob Harris Jr. of Herrin and Shelley (Mark) Smith of Herrin; two great-grandchildren, Bobby (Briana) Harris III of Zeigler and Jamie L. Harris and her husband-to-be, Wade A Lewis of Benton; great-great-granddaughter, Makinley L. Harris of Zeigler; son-in-law, Bob Harris Sr. of Herrin; niece, Darla Tippy of Herrin; and great- nephew, Chay Marshall of Energy. Virginia was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Ray; daughter, Jennifer Harris; and brother, Bill Hunsaker. Services will be at 1 p.m. Saturday, March 16, in Johnson-Hughes Funeral Home in Herrin with the Rev. Don Colson officiating. Burial will be in Herrin City Cemetery. Visitation will be from noon to 1 p.m. Saturday at the funeral home. For those who prefer, memorials may be made to the family.
