WEST FRANKFORT -- Jack Podnar, 75, passed away at 1:25 a.m. March 18, 2014, in Franklin Hospital in Benton. He was born July 9, 1938, in West Frankfort, to Joseph Podnar and Evelyn (Fitzgerald ) Podnar. He married Carol (Cullen) Podnar on Jan. 21, 1967, and she survives. Besides his wife Carol, he is also survived by two sons, Matthew Podnar of West Frankfort, and Andy Podnar and wife, Kristen, of Belleville, Mich.; grandchildren, Louise Arseneau and Luke and Laurel Podnar; two sisters, Barbara Westell and husband, John of West Frankfort, and Rosanne Stitley of West Frankfort; one brother, John Podnar of West Frankfort; and sisters-in-law, Theresa and Herman Bandera, Florence Butta, both of West Frankfort, Mary and Bill Barber of Mobile, Ala., and Annabell Cullen of Santa Rosa Beach, Fla. He was preceded in death by his parents. Jack graduated from SIU Carbondale with a Bachelor of Science degree. He was retired as a pharmaceutical representative for Bristol-Myers Company. He also served in the U.S. Army having served in Germany. It was Jack's wishes to be cremated. There will be no services. Parker-Reedy Funeral Home in West Frankfort is in charge of arrangements.
