Mark Joe LEFLER Veteran, retired miner from Zeigler Mark Joe LEFLER, 68, of 707 S. Pine St. in Zeigler died at 2:15 p.m. Saturday, June 5, 1993 at the Southern Hills Hospital in Nashville, Tenn. Mr. LEFLER was born Jan. 19, 1925 in Zeigler to Joshua and Clara Elda (HEIPLE) LEFLER. He was a coal miner, veteran and POW in World War II, a life member of the West Frankfort VFW and a member of the Zeigler American Legion. He married Loma Faye WILLIAMS April 26, 1949 in Royalton and she preceded him in death Aug. 9, 1974. He was also preceded in death by a sister, Phyllis TURNER, a half-sister, Darlene LEFLER, and his parents. Survivors include a daughter, Marcia THOMPSON of Freeman Spur, and four sons, Mark and David of Zeigler, Clarence of Route 1, West Frankfort, and Tim of Nashville, Tenn., a foster son, Troy ELLIOTT, of Nashville, Tenn.; two sisters, Modena CARPENTER of Johnston City and Frances TERRY of South Bend, Ind.; two brothers, Tom and Paul LEFLER of Royalton; a stepmother, Camille LEFLER, and half-brother Jock LEFLER, both of Royalton; two half-sisters, Sherry COOK of Christopher and Portia GRIMES of Arkansas; three grandchildren and one great-grandson. LEFLER......Funeral services for Mark Joe LEFLER will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, June 9, 1993 at the First Christian Church in Zeigler, Brother Donald Wright officiating. Burial with military rites will be at the Browning Cemetery north of Royalton. Friends may call from 6 to 9 p.m Tuesday at Vantrease Funeral Home in Zeigler and after 9 a.m. Wednesday at the church.
