DIMMICK, 71, West Frankfort postmaster, died in Union Hospital at 11 a.m. Tuesday after suffering a heart attack at his home, 2003 E. Lindell St., West Frankfort. Mr. DIMMICK was born April 10 1897, in West Frankfort, the son of Frank and Lottie ICE DIMMICK. He operated the Dimmick Hotel in West Frankfort for 20 years and had been postmaster the last 14 years. A veteran of World War I, he was a member of the American Legion; the Trinity Methodist Church of West Frankfort, which he served as treasurer 32 years; member and past president of the Rotary Club; and member of Frankfort Lodge 567, AF and AM. He also had served as city commissioner under the Carl Barker administration. Mr. DIMMICK leaves his wife the former Mable [sic] POOLE; brothers, Leslie and Ward, both of West Frankfort; sisters, Mrs. Celeste OWENS of Carbondale, Mrs. Lucille IAUN of West Frankfort and Mrs. Maud WILSON of Alton. Funeral services will be 2 p.m. Thursday in the Reedy Funeral Home, West Frankfort, with the Rev. R. E. George officiating. Burial will be in the Tower Heights Cemetery, West Frankfort.
