MURPHYSBORO -- Wayne Skobel, 79, passed away at 12:50 a.m. Saturday, Jan. 18, 2014, in Memorial Hospital of Carbondale. Wayne was born July 8, 1934, in Gorham, to Frank and Cora Ella (Raines) Skobel. He is survived by his wife, Joanna Skobel of Murphysboro; brother, Frank (Mary) Skobel of Benton; and his sister, Karen (Rick) Weisenstein of De Soto. He was especially close to his two children, Ricky Skobel of Elkvlle and daughter, Jan Marie Conley of Jefferson City, Mo.; and his best buddy, Delbert and his wife, Betty McCoy and their family. He was an avid hunter. He had worked for CIPS as a lineman for more than 37 years. He will be greatly missed by many. Services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday, March 22, in De Soto Cemetery, with the Revs. Shaker Samuel and Rick McNeely officiating. Family and friends are asked to gather at the cemetery.
