Glenn D. Davis, 89, of Benton, IL, went to be with the Lord at 7:05 a.m. Wednesday, March 26, 2014 at Helia Healthcare, Benton, IL.      Mr. Davis was born on August 3, 1924 in Benton, IL the son of Henry Davis and Pearl Bookhout.  He married the former La Gathia I. Hammers on April 24, 1948.      Glenn served in the United States Army.  He retired from Sealed Air Manufacturing, Salem, IL, in 1985 as a machinist.  He was a member of the West City Church of God.  Glenn was a loving husband, father, grandfather, and great grandfather.  He enjoyed fishing, working on his lawn and garden.        Surviving relatives include his wife, La Gathia I. Davis, two daughters,  Patricia (Dannie) See, Brenda Kay Davis, two grandchildren, Craig (Christy) See and Robin (Jason) Bailey, two great grandchildren, Paige Morgan Hamel, Parker Ashton Bailey, brothers and sisters, Cecil Davis, Leroy Davis, Jim Davis, Ronnie Davis, Janice Scharnhorst, and Jane Mensen.      Mr. Davis was preceded in death by his parents, a brother, Vernon Bookhout, and a sister, Rita Metcalf.      Visitation will be from 5:00 to 8:00 p.m. Friday, March 28, 2014 at the Hobbs-Johnson Funeral Home & Crematory, Benton, IL.  Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m. Saturday, March 29, 2014 at the funeral home in Benton, IL.  Burial will be in the East Lawn Cemetery, Salem, IL.      Memorial contributions may be made to West City Church of God and will be accepted at the funeral home.
