    3. I am not really familiar with this family but my research for a friend has led me here. Adam Nelson Payne was born in Franklin County, IL on August 13, 1864 and died December 2, 1923 in Okfuskee County, Oklahoma. He married Elizabeth "Lizzie" Catherine Epley in Dunklin County, Missouri and I have information on them. 1880 Franklin County, IL Census: James M. Payne 51 VA Louisa J. (Thomas) Payne 35 KY Adam N. Payne 16 IL Clarra E. Payne 13 IL Nancy I. Payne 11 IL James H.(enry) 6 IL So far I haven't been able to find this family in 1870. 1860 Logan County, KY J. M. Paine 32 VA Clara Paine 63 NY William Coles 6 KY 1850 Green County, KY John C. Pane 68 VA Clary Pane 52 NY Mary Pane 26 VA Louesa Pane 24 VA (married Alson Hunter and I have all census for her) Susan Pane 22 VA James M. Pane 21 VA (married Louisa J. Thomas and I have information except 1870 census) John Pane 1 Green Co. This led me to find the Will of John Coles Payne in Logan County, KY below. Does anyone have further documents and proofs to move to the next generation backward? I can see that he has a daughter Dolley that was born about 1815-1817 so I assume he was married previously. Dollie was married to Wesley Thomas and I have information on them. Seems most researchers from here back are interested in connecting to Dollie Payne Todd Madison, wife of President James Madison.
