Tim "Tim Cat" Cates, age 53, of Mount Vernon, Illinois passed away on Saturday, March 8, 2014 at his home in Mount Vernon.  “Tim Cat” worked in the oil fields and was a self-employed auto mechanic. Mr. Cates will be cremated following the Public Visitation.  Visitation will be from 5 to 7:00 P.M. Tim Cates is survived by 2 daughters - Andrea Cates of Mount Vernon, Illinois and Rhiannon Cates of Mount Vernon, Illinois;  a brother - Jim Bob Cates of Springfield, Illinois;  a sister - Angela Cates of Benton, Illinois;  six grandchildren, several nieces and nephews also survive.   Tim Cates was born on Wednesday, October 12, 1960 in Mount Vernon, Illinois to James Robert "Burrhead" Cates & Juanita Mildred "Jackie" (Sallee) Cates.  His parents, three brothers: Steven Cates, Tony Richard Cates and Jody Cates and one sister: Debbie Cates preceded him in death.
