DOWNEN,56, DIES MONDAY James Arthur Downen, 56, of Rt. 1, Mulkeytown, died at 7 p.m. Monday in Miners Hospital, Christopher. He had been ill three months. He was caretaker at the Izzak Walton Lake. He was born Feb. 9, 1908, in Jefferson County the son of J. V. and Delia Thomas Downen. He was a member of the Christopher South Side Baptist Church. He leaves his wife, the former Ova M. Gulley; his mother; a daughter, Mrs. Erwin Miles of Benton; a son, James Arthur Downen Jr. at home; a sister, Mrs. Vivian Carter of Christopher; and a brother, Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday in Gilbert Funeral Home, Christopher. Rev. Gene Fox will officiate. Friends may call after 7 p.m. today at the funeral home.
