George Loman (Photo) ELKVILLE -- George Harrison Loman, 65, passed away at 7:48 a.m. Saturday, April 19, 2014, in Marshall Browning Hospital in Du Quoin. He had worked for 35 years for the U.S. Postal Service and had been postmaster at Christopher. He was a member of Elkville Christian Church. He served four years in the U.S. Navy and had been stationed in Adak, Alaska. He was born Aug. 12, 1948, in Mount Vernon, the son of Lowery Harrison and Betty B. (Gulley) Loman. George married Pamela Jean Keith on Jan. 28, 1972, in Elkville, and she passed away March 30, 1998. He is survived by three children, Tina Lynn Loman of Kansas City, Mo., Casey Renee Loman of Elkville, and Matthew Harrison Loman and wife, Tracy Renea, of Elkville; mother, Betty B. Loman of Elkville; two brothers, Lance Loman and wife, Amie, and Richard Loman, and wife, Debbie, both of Springfield; sister, Betty Winchester of Elkville; and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his wife; father and son, Michael Todd Loman. Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, April 23, in Elkville Cemetery with Brother Gary Pruitt officiating. Burial will follow. Visitation will be from 10 to 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at the cemetery. If friends desire to send flowers they may be sent to 500 Atkins St., in Elkville. Memorials may be made to and will be accepted at the funeral home. Military graveside rites will be conducted by the Du Quoin VFW, American Legion and the U.S. Navy.
