Ward, Oldest Resident Of Sesser, Dies Sesser's oldest resident died Thursday. She was Mrs. Alice Bertha Ward, 92, who succumbed in Marshall Browning Hospital in DuQuoin, where she had been a patient since last December 21. Mrs. Ward was the widow of Dr. E. E. Ward and had lived in Sesser since 1905, moving from Winfield. She was bom December 12, (sic.) in Indiana, the daughter of James H. and Julia Ann (Reeves) Cleveland. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Sunday at the Sesser Baptist church, of which she was a member, with the pastor, the Rev. Bill Christoff and the Rev. Fred Beck, minister of the Methodist church, officiating. Burial will be in Maple Hill cemetery. The body will lie in state at the Brayfield Funeral Home in Sesser, where friends may call after 7:00 p.m. today. Survivors include one son. Dr. W. H. Ward of Sesser; two daughters, Mrs. Ruth Robinson and Mrs. Wanda Hutson, both of Sesser: six grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.
