    2. THOMPSONVILLE -- Hazel Louise Vaughn, 83, died at 8:40 a.m. Thursday April 3, 2014, in Stonebridge Senior Living Center in Benton. Hazel was born July 29, 1930, in Williamson County, the daughter of Ray and Nellie Hedges. On March 23, 1948, she married Lloyd Vaughn. He survives. Her family was her pride and joy. She loved to cook and cooked Sunday dinners for many years. She was always there for her family. She worked outside the home for 32 years. In addition to her husband, Lloyd, she is survived by one daughter, Carol Kern and husband, Delbert, of Thompsonville; one son, Bruce Vaughn and wife, Marsha, of Thompsonville; three grandsons, Travis Kern and wife, Ashley, Beau Vaughn and wife, Britny, all of Thompsonville, and Miles Vaughn and Alysa of Benton; and great-grand-children, Nathaniel James Kern and Katherine Marie Kern of Thompsonville. Mrs. Vaughn was preceded in death by her parents. Services will be at 11 a.m. Sunday, April 6, in Sloan Funeral Home in Galatia, with the Rev. John Robinson officiating. Burial will be in Mount Zion Cemetery in Thompsonville. Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. Saturday, April 5, at the funeral home. For those who wish, memorials in Mrs. Vaughn's memory may be made to the Southern Illinois Parkinson's Disease Support Group for Research and will be accepted at the funeral home.
