The Mt. Vernon Register-News, Tuesday, March 24, 1970 Coy Burton New Mexico Coy Burton, 71 of Roswell, N. M., a former Franklin county resident, died at 4:00 a.m. Monday in a Roswell hospital. Funeral services for Mr. Burton will be held Thursday in Roswell. Burial will be in Eastern Gates cemetery there. The body will lie in state at the, LaGrone Funeral Home in Roswell. Mr. Burton was born Oct. 25, 1898, in Franklin county, the son of Elijah and. Jane (Holman) Burton. He was married to Zelda Wyatt, who survives. Mr. Burton was a veteran of World War I. Besides his wife; survivors include a son, Buddy Burton, of Roswell; two step-sons, Maynard Wyatt, of Elgin, and Lestel Wyatt, of Whittington: three sisters, Mrs. Paul (Addie) Piper, and Mrs. Clyde (Grace) Skinner, both of Mt. Vernon, and Mrs. Jess (Essie) Hamilton, of Whittington; and two grandchildren.
