Jo Ann Dent, age 59, of Mt. Vernon passed away 7:05 a.m. Friday, April 11, 2014 at her home in Mt. Vernon. Jo Ann was born April 7, 1955 in Mt. Vernon, Illinois the daughter of Charles Kittinger Jr. and Ruby (Hensley) Kittinger. She married Jeffrey Dent on June 4, 2011 in Mt. Vernon and he survives in Mt. Vernon. Mrs. Dent attended the Nason Freewill Baptist Church. Jo Ann worked had worked for Anheuser-Busch Distribution Center in Mt. Vernon. She is survived by her husband Jeff Dent of Mt. Vernon; step daughter, Jessica Gibson and husband Brian of Christopher; special friends, Marcella Dent of Bonnie and Peggy Kirkpatrick and husband Rickie of Mt. Vernon, Little Rikki and Stephanie; and also two grandchildren, Gunner and Nevaeh. Jo Ann was preceded in death by her parents. Funeral services will be held 4 p.m. Sunday, April 13, 2014 at the Newell Funeral Home in Mt. Vernon, IL with Pastor John Capps officiating. Visitation will be held on Sunday from 1 p.m. until service time at the funeral home. Burial will be held at the Bethel Cemetery in Mt. Vernon at a later date.
