The Mt Vernon Register News, Monday, March 22, 1976 Floyd "Rody" Shaw Benton Floyd "Rody" Shaw, 70, of Benton, a former resident of Mt. Vernon and Ina. died suddenly at his home Sunday morning. Mr. Shaw was a retired coal miner. He was born in De Soto on Nov. 15,1905, the son of John and Maude (Woods) Shaw. On Jan. 20, 1924. he was married, in Salem, to Myrna Roth, who survives. He was a member of the First United Methodist church in Benton, and was a member of the Ewing Masonic Lodge 705, A.F. & A.M. Funeral services will be held Tuesday at 2 p.m. at the Hobbs-Johnson Funeral Home in Benton, with the Rev. Floyd Hale officiating. Burial will be in Kirk cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home after 6 p.m. Monday. Mr. Shaw, is survived by his wife, Myrna, Benton; two sons, Bob Shaw and Jere Shaw, both of Mt. Vernon; four grandchildren; one great-granddaughter, Mellissa Dawn; three brothers, Gene Shaw, Benton, Bill Shaw, Mt. Vernon, and John Shaw, Godfrey; and three sisters, Mrs. Muriel Towers, Benton, Mrs. Mary Clark, Mt. Vernon, and Mrs. June Hopper, Mt. Vernon; and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, one daughter, Charlotte Ann; two brothers and three sisters.
