Byrd worked in the coal mines for 44 years and enjoyed going to auctions. Per his wishes, Byrd Rich will be donated to medical research. Byrd Rich was born the son of Lowell and Anna (Maddox) Rich on April 12, 1931 in West Frankfort. He was preceded in death by both of his parents.
