Another researcher gone !!! Kay M. Robinson transcended from this earthly plane Saturday, Feb. 8, 2014, in her home. She is survived by her son, Geoffrey R. Moss; her granddaughter, Madelyn G. Moss; daughter-in-law, Desiree Smith Moss; and other extended family. She is preceded in death by her parents, Jack and Marjorie (Vollmer) Robinson; and her grandmother, Mary Lee Schmidt. Originally from Decatur, Ill., Kay and her family migrated to La Crosse when she was 4 years old. Kay attended Old Holy Cross Grade School and graduated from Aquinas High School. Throughout her life she touched the hearts, minds and souls of so many people. Some of those individuals have said “she had the articulation of a cultured pearl and a seasoned sailor, the brilliance of a genius, the dynamism of a strong wind, the humanity of a saint, the loyalty of a friend, and the questions of a sincere mind. She will always be remembered for her passion for civil rights, common sense, debate, the downtrodden, love of family, politics, unions and women’s rights. Kay was a warrior, and she’ll always be our hero.” She assisted so many through tough times in their lives by utilizing the wisdom and compassion she acquired from her own; as shown in this quote, “Even the painful moments had a particularly energizing effect on my life — because I survived and was tougher because I had survived!” Let’s all remember Kay through one of her favorite quotes by Dr. Seuss – “Don’t cry because it’s over. Smile because it happened.” Kay was such a wonderful woman, smart, funny and fiercely loyal and we’ll all miss her terribly, forever. Goodbye from your loving son and your four-legged kids. A funeral Mass will be held at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, Feb. 18, in St. Joseph the Workman Cathedral, 530 Main St., La Crosse. The Rev. Daniel Oudenhoven will officiate. Family and friends may call from 4:30 to 7:30 p.m. Monday at Blaschke & Schneider Funeral Home, 1501 West Ave. S., La Crosse.
