The Herald-News, Joliet, IL 1 April 2015 Shirley Ann Akin Born: Sept.7, 1935 Died: March 29th, 2015 Shirley Ann Akin, 79, of Streator passed away Sunday evening, March 29th, 2015, at St. Mary's Hospital. A visitation will be held Thursday, from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. at the Winterrowd Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held Friday, at 11:0 a.m. at the funeral home. Burial will be in Riverview Cemetery. Serving as pallbearers will be grandsons, Christopher Akin, Tyler Akin, Kyle Wynn, Nathan Duttlinger, Jason Duttlinger, Robert Kaluzny and William Spero. Shirley was born on September 7, 1935, in Benton, IL to Loretta Howard and William Howard Sr. She married Cris J. Akin on October 31, 1952. He passed away on February 4, 2005. Surviving are children, Debbie (Steven) Sherman of Bloomington, Nancy (Kim) Wynn of Morris and Jeff (Lori) Akin of Streator; grandchildren, Chad Akin, Jason Duttlinger, Angela Girard, Nathan Duttlinger, Jennifer Spero, Brittney Kaluzny, Kyle Wynn, Christopher Akin and Tyler Akin; 15 great-grandchildren; sisters, Mary (Clarence) Atwood of S. Dakota, Jean (Domingo) Araujo of Streator; and brother, William (Debbie) Howard of Joliet. Shirley is preceded in death by her parents; husband; and daughter, Christine Kay Akin.
