Joe" McDermott, age 66, of Mount Vernon, Illinois passed away Thursday, January 15, 2015 atCrossroads Community Hospital in Mount Vernon, Illinois.  “Joe” owned and operated McDermott Sales & Service before retiring.Funeral Service will be held at 10:00 A.M. Monday, January 19, 2015 at Hughey Funeral Home in Mount Vernon, Illinois with Reverend Les Sinks & Chaplain Ernie Collins presiding.  Visitation will be from 5 to 8:00 P.M Sunday, January 18, 2015 at Hughey Funeral Home in Mount Vernon, Illinois.  Interment at Oakwood Cemetery in Mount Vernon, Illinois.  For those who wish, memorials may be given to the Jefferson County Animal Shelter and will be accepted at the funeral home or mailed to Hughey Funeral Home, P.O. McDermott and wife Frances of Centralia, Illinois; half-sister - Fiona Alley of Woodland, Illinois; beloved canines - “Cleo”, “Sabie” and “Babyllysa”; several nieces and nephews also survive.  "Joe" McDermott was born Wednesday, October 13, 1948 in Mount Vernon, Illinois son of James R. "Big Jim" McDermott, Sr. & Wanita Gladys (Cole) McDermott.  His parents and one brother: Jack McDermott preceded him in death.
