Billy Ray HAYES: Newspaper Obituary and Death Notice Register-News (Mount Vernon, IL) - Monday, December 17, 2007 Deceased Name: Billy Ray HAYES Billy Ray HAYES, 79, of Kell formerly of Ina, died at 9:33 a.m. Saturday, Dec. 15, 2007, at his home. He was born on March 28, 1928, in Bonnie, son of Ernest and Runa (DUNBAR) HAYES. He married Naomi HEAD on June 1, 1948, in Ina, and she survives in Kell. Services will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday at Johnston Funeral Home in Mt. Vernon with the Rev. David Burgess officiating. Burial will follow at Kirk Cemetery in Ina. Visitation will be held from 5 to 6 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home. In addition to his wife, Mr. HAYES is survived by two sons, Tim HAYES and wife Kathy of Iuka and Shannon HAYES and wife Paula of Kell; two daughters, Susan BURGESS and husband David of Salem and Amy MATHENA and husband Bill of Kell; grandchildren Wendolyn PENN and husband Travis, Crystal GROVE and husband Brian, Jill TILLEY and husband Rob, Eric HAYES and wife Kari, Kirk, Holly, Brad and Blake HAYES, Christina, Caitlin, Brant and Callah MATHENA; great-grandchildren Brooklyn and Isiah PENN, Ryker, Cainan and Kinley GROVE, Claire and Anna Grace TILLEY, Kira and Eli HAYES; sister-in-law Helen HAYES of Moeb, Utah; and nieces, nephews and cousins. He was preceded in death by his parents; a daughter, Sally Kay HAYES; and a brother, Kenneth HAYES. Mr. HAYES was a farmer and a member of Ina Free Will Baptist Church. He attended Pleasant View Free Will Baptist Church at Walnut Hill and taught the Adult Sunday school class for many years.
