| Reba Pearl Bennett, Formerly of West Frankfort, Illinois, went to be with her Lord on January 23, 2015 at her daughter’s home in California. She was born in the Plumfield/Freeman Spur area on March 12, 1920. She was preceded in death by her husband Edward A. Bennett, her parents, and 8 siblings. One sister, Dorothy Robinson, of Tucson, Arizona survives. Also surviving are her children, Ronald A. Bennett of Arnold, Missouri and Karen E. (Wesley) Walker of Hemet, CA; grandchildren, Jeff (Suzanne) Walker of Cincinnati, OH; Lisa (Kevin) Schwer of St. Louis, MO; Eddie (Sandi) Walker of Encinitas, CA; Lori (Joseph) Long of Chino Hills, CA; Greg (Karmel) Bennett of Peach Tree, GA; Michael (Tori) Bennett of Oceanside, CA; and 15 great grandchildren. Reba was very active and a lifetime member of the American Legion Auxiliary, VFW Auxiliary, Eight & Forty Auxiliary, and the DAV Auxiliary. Serving Veterans was one of her lifetime achievements as she worked tirelessly on numerous “Poppy Days”, supported the DAV (Disabled American Veterans) and helped with many parties at the Marion Veterans Hospital. She was a member of the First Baptist Church in West Frankfort for most of her life and faithfully served in the First Baptist Church Clothing Room for several years. Reba was a member of the Frankfort Area Historical Society and encouraged others to support the museum. Funeral services will be Saturday, January 31, 2015 at 11:00a.m. in Union Funeral Home – West Frankfort, Illinois with Brother Mike Cash officiating. Visitation will be held in the funeral home on Friday, January 30, 2015 from 5:00-8:00p.m. Interment will be in the Freeman Spur Cemetery.
