    2.   S. Geneva Capps Kehrer, 89, of Mt. Vernon, died 7 a.m. Friday, Jan. 16, 2015, at Mt. Vernon Countryside Manor in Mt. Vernon.  She was born July 9, 1925, in the Frisco community north east of Ewing, the daughter of Alonzo Olin and Edith Pearl (Beaty) Capps. She married Frank Kehrer on Sept. 9, 1940, in Henderson, Ky., and he preceded her in death on July 9, 1994. Geneva earned her associates degree from Rend Lake College in 1981. She worked for six years at the Mt. Vernon Shoe Factor and for nine years at Logan Street Daycare. Geneva attended church all her life. She and her husband Frank helped to start Friendship Freewill Baptist Church in the 1960s. In more recent years, she helped with the youth ministries at WWJD Ministries where her grandson, Rodney Mellott, is pastor. She cleaned, served children and assisted in every way possible until she was no longer able to attend. Geneva was a kind, jolly person; she led a harmonious family and spent her life serving the Lord as well as her family gracefully intermixing discipline with fun. She was an honest and true lady in every sense of the word! She lived a full life and spoke of it with her favorite saying, “I am satisfied!” She is survived by two sons, Leon Kehrer and wife Marla of Mt. Vernon and Donnie Kehrer and wife Vicky of Mt. Vernon; daughter, Audrey Mellott of Mt. Vernon; granddaughters, Nan Kehrer Burkeen and husband Jody of Eureka, Lora Greathouse and husband Tom of Mt. Vernon and Katrina Bauer and husband Kip of Mt. Vernon; grandsons, Leon Kehrer, Jr. and fiancee Amy Brunswick, Jason Kehrer and wife Kia of Minnesota, Sam Kehrer of Mt. Vernon, Marty Mellott of Mt. Vernon and Rodney Mellott and wife Heather of Mt. Vernon; great-grandchildren, Christopher Kehrer, Brandon Kehrer, Evee, Gabe, Paul and Addison Burkeen, Ava and Jackson Kehrer, Austin and Alexis Kehrer, Casey, Khalea, Alvy and Liam Mellott, Cody Mellott and wife Cheyenne, Blaze and Lucy Greathouse and Ilsa and Nadia Bauer; great-great-grandchildren, Bryson Kehrer and Savanna Mellott; and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; a granddaughter, Tina Marie Kehrer Hice; brother, Kenneth Leon Capps; and sister, Dorothy Williams. Funeral service will be held at 1 p.m. Tuesday at WWJD Ministries, 1801 Forrest Ave., Mt. Vernon, with Rodney Mellott officiating. Interment will be at Bethel Memorial Cemetery in Mt. Vernon. Visitation will be held from 5 to 8 p.m. Monday at Hughey Funeral Home in Mt. Vernon.
