Searby Funeral Home Website Mar 30, 2015 Sandra Lee Hicks, 69, of Dowell, passed away at 11:16 A.M., Saturday, March 28, 2015 at the Pinckneyville Community Hospital in Pinckneyville. Sandra was a LPN and worked for 20 years at the Pinckneyville Community Hospital and also worked as a private duty nurse. Sandra was a member of the American Legion Ladies Auxiliary Post 0955 of Dowell, Elkville Helping Hands, and Shriners Hillbilly Clan #39. She also cooked for the Masonic Lodge. She was born February 23, 1946 at St. Louis, MO, the daughter of Milton Frances and Bernice (Clifton) Smith-Struckman. She married William Hicks in 1977 in Tennessee and he preceded her in death. She is survived by her significant other - James A. Staffey, one son - Donald W. Crowe Jr. and wife Sheila of Riverview, FL, five daughters - Sheryl L. Crowe of Duquoin, Patricia A. Myers and husband Joseph of Sesser, Kimberly D. Hicks of Tamaroa, Cynthia D. Bailey and husband J.E. of Elkville, and Michelle R. Knapp and husband Jerry of Tamaroa, thirteen grandchildren - Ashley Crowe, Darrell Amann, Sara Bigham, Bradley Crowe, Bethany Myers, Marie Myers, Katlyn Abbadusky, Cheyenne Abbadusky, Matthew Myers, Kraiten Franklin, John Heine, Brooke Heine, and Noah Franklin, two great-grandchildren - Aurora Amann and Case Heine, one brother - James A. Smith and wife Marcy of Wentzville, MO, and two dogs - Heidi and Gretchen. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, two daughters - Ruby A. Crowe and Lisa M. Randolph, and one brother - Milton E. Smith. Funeral services will be at 10:00 A.M., Thursday, April 2, 2015 at the Searby Funeral Home in Du Quoin with Bro. Rick McClintoch and Dallas Terry officiating. Friends may call from 5-8 P.M., Wednesday, April 1, 2015 at the Searby Funeral Home in Du Quoin. Burial will be at the Sunset Memorial Park in Du Quoin. Friends may make memorials to the Murphysboro Masonic Children's Home or Shriners Hospital and will be accepted at the funeral home.
