Mar 14, 2015 Searby Funeral Home Website Southern Illinoisan Website DU QUOIN -- Alice Marie Eubanks, 95, passed away at 8:54 p.m. Thursday, March 12, 2015, at her residence. Alice had been a dispatcher for the Du Quoin Police Department. She had also worked in packaging in the meat boxing department at Blue Bell Packing. She was a member of the Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Du Quoin. She was a U.S. Navy Waves veteran of World War II. Alice had been in boot camp at Cedar Falls, Iowa, with the first class of Waves. She was then stationed at the Seattle Naval Air Station. She was a member of the Du Quoin VFW Ladies Auxiliary, American Legion, Catholic Daughters of America, Marshall Browning Hospital Auxiliary and Women In Military Service of America. She was born Feb. 7, 1920, in Chicago, the daughter of Ransom E. and Helen J. (Jaroski) Kinman. She married Henry Eubanks on July 4, 1953, in Pinckneyville, and he preceded her in death July 9, 2001. She is survived by three children, Ruth Marie Belcher of Hampton, Virginia, Carl Eubanks and wife, Laurie, of Nashville, and Donna Scro and husband, Nick, of Du Quoin; one sister, Ruth Gaerig of Dearborn, Michigan; six grandchildren, Michael Belcher of Stewartstown, Pennsylvania, Pamela Furrow and husband, Bill, of Hampton, Virginia, John Belcher and wife, Cathy, of Du Quoin, Kyle Anderson of Bloomington, Kristin Wright and husband, John, of Du Quoin, and Kasey Anderson and wife, Lydia of Wilson, North Carolina; four stepgrandchildren, Kelly Ramsey and husband, Greg, of Thompsonville, Nicholas Scro and wife, Erin of Thompsonville, Grant McClintock of Columbia, Missouri, and Caitlin McClintock of Creve Coeur, Missouri; and 15 great- grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; and stepfather, George Jasecko. Mass of Christian burial will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday, March 17, in Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Du Quoin, with Father Joseph Oganda officiating. Burial will be in the Sacred Heart Cemetery in Du Quoin. Military graveside rites will be conducted by the Du Quoin VFW and American Legion and the U.S. Navy. Visitation will be from 4 to 7 p.m. Monday at Searby Funeral Home in Du Quoin. Rosary will be prayed at 9:30 a.m. Tuesday at the funeral home. Friends may make memorials to the Sacred Heart Catholic Church or Masses and will be accepted at the funeral home.
