Helen Ames, 92, died Sunday, March 1, 2015, in Herrin Hospital. Mrs. Ames was an LPN at Miners Hospital and a homemaker. She was a member of St. Andrews Catholic Church in Christopher. She was born March 28, 1922, in Christopher to Leon and Bernice (Sufalko) Kaminski. She was married to Polie Ames, who preceded her in death Sept. 15, 2002. Survivors include her children, Mary and Jim Moyers, Theresa and Bob Greenwood and Pricilla Flowers, all of Mulkeytown, and Loretta and Fred Basolo of Coello; grandchildren, Misty and Jason Lee,, Windy Moyers, Brittany Knoup, Felecia Basolo, Bobbi and Jesse Gordon, Courtney and Lyn Severs, Rachael and Garett Janello, Khorey and Holley Anderton, Alechia and Gabe Sveda, Lacey Holt and Larry Ames Flowers; 18 great-grandchildren; sister-in-law, Mary Kaminski; and three special nieces, Jane Gregory, David Lawton and Mary Bernice Nemenski. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; daughter, Julie Anderton; two sisters; and two brothers. Funeral mass will be at 11 a.m. Thursday, March 5, in St. Andrews Catholic Church in Christopher with Father Blazine officiating. Burial will be in St. Andrews Catholic Cemetery in Christopher. There will be no visitation. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to St. Andrews Cemetery Fund. Memorial envelopes will be available at the church and Gilbert Funeral Home in Christopher.
