He was born July 21, 1920 in Big Rock, TN, the son of James P. Simpson and Susie N. (Gibbs) Simpson. Survivors include a daughter Donna Crain and Son-in-law Max Crain of Sesser, two grandchildren Gary D. Vancil of Poteau, OK, and Shannon L. Avery of Opdyke, IL. Three great grandchildren Tristin Vancil of Poteau, OK, Amelia Avery and Joshua Avery of Opdyke, IL. He was preceded in death by his parents and his wife Jewel (Hargis) Simpson on October 28, 2013.
