Wanda June (Morgan) Childers March 4, 1930 - March 28, 2015 (Photos) Wanda June (Morgan) Childers, 85, of Zeigler, Illinois departed this life at 8:39 p.m., Friday, March 28, 2015 at the home of her daughter with her loving family at her side. Wanda was born March 4, 1930 in Amery, Mississippi to Worth and Grace (Humphries) Morgan. On October 13, 1967 she married the Eugene "Gene" M. Childers in Benton. He preceded her in death June 28, 2014. She is survived by a son, Steve (Lisa) Torisky of Harrisburg; two daughters, Patty (John) Bonner of Martindale, TX and Holly (Michael) Brower of Royalton; six grandchildren and eleven great grandchildren; a brother, Olen Morgan of Sesser; a sister, Donna Morgan of Zeigler and her wonderful friends at the West Frankfort Pool that she dearly loved. In addition to her parents, she was also preceded in death by a brother, Clarence Morgan and four sisters, Geraldine Vancil, Shirley Mitchell, Lois Halterman and Barbara King. Mrs. Childers was of the Catholic faith and attended the St. Aloysius-Sacred Heart Church in Royalton. She retired from Smoler Brothers Dress Factory in Herrin. She loved this job and always had such fond memories of the ladies she work with and lifelong friendships she made from that factory. Funeral services for Mrs. Childers will be held at 11:00 a.m., Monday, March 30, 2015 at Vantrease Funeral Home in Zeigler with Sister Laura Reynolds officiating. Burial will be at St. Aloysius-Sacred Heart Cemetery west of Zeigler. Visiting hours are from 9 to 11:00 a.m., Monday at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in memory of Mrs. Childers are suggested to Hospice of Southern Illinois, Inc., 204 Halfway Road, Marion, IL 62959.
